A while ago on my house blog, I did a tour of our house. Lots of things have changed since then... paint in baths, couch in the basement, Iranian pots above kitchen cupboards, etc. and now THIS.
I finally have something above our bed! My mother and I painted this together while she was in town.
Steps we did this:
•Gesso'd the canvases (2 or 3 coats) and let dry. About an hour between coats.
•Sanded the gesso to make it smooth
•painted champagne colored gold paint, let dry. (2 coats)
•then we did the bamboo, and the birds.
•glued an ivory-colored ribbon around the edges of each canvas (all 4 sides) to finish it off and hide the staples.
•mounted thick fibered ribbon on the back between the screens to make them stay together. You can fold any two screens together, but not forwards... does that make sense?
•hot glue gunned green shiny fabric (can't remember the real name right now) to the back of each canvas, folding under to hide the raw edges.

WOW. Wow wow wow, that's all I have to say.
.... Ok that's not all I have to say. How cool that you and your mom could tag-team this one! If I ever tried to do that with my mom, she'd end up doing all the work while I'd just nit-pick if it didn't look how I pictured in my head. :)
Beautiful bedroom, too!
