The drama of the black with the straight edges of the grey back chairs and long bench on the right allows for a comfortable dinner but not quite comfortable enough to sit at the table being awkward. Either dinner is over, or you go to another room for games or other sorts of entertainment.

Notice the portrait? It is a girl on a swing, but too discreet to draw the eyes in for a quick glance. You have to look at it until you decide it's not a flower or branch of any kind; but a youthful time for fun.

The cat-walk/theatre-like chandelier above the table is equipped with light colored candles rather than the traditional bulb. Though underneath, they are electronically lighted to give off more illumination. Either way, this room is very intriguing. Maybe a bit too sharp for my taste, but I love the dramatic colors: black wall, grey chairs, teal center-piece, lavender hydrangeas, and white candles.

Bathrooms are one place where you can go and not feel guilty if you lock the door. When you lock that door, you are free to spend as much interminable time as you like in that room. Typically, bathrooms are small, so why not make the most beautiful space out of it?

The dramatic colors of the walls, the bold sinks, the white flowers, and square mirrors make me feel like I could read an enitre novel and give myself a pedicure without feeling the least bit sorry for whoever is standing cross-legged in the hallway.

reasons

I have my reasons for beginning this new blog:

1. Mark and I love to decorate and design our homes. I say homes, plural, because we are in the Air Force and have lived in 3 homes in a year and a half. It will be 4 homes come the end of 2 years. Because we love it so much, I find myself planning ahead for our future homes, near and distant. Over the last year or so I have collected pictures of many rooms and ideas that have attracted my attention. I want a new place to think about these pictures.

2. My computer has crashed now three times. These pictures have been backed up on CD, but it will be nice to have 'an extra place' to have these pictures.

3. Perhaps Mark will be intrigued by the idea of blogging now that he realizes they can be for future purposes rather than online journaling. Maybe this will do the trick, be the poison apple for True Love's blog.
